The Eight Treasures of Qigong Workshop
When: Saturday, April 28 , 2 p.m.
The workshop by Dr. Dean Y. Deng features Qigong, a comprehensive system of healing arts. Founded 5,000 years ago and integrated into Traditional Chinese Medicine, as well as theories and applications from the wide range of indigenous traditions of Chinese culture. Developing, maintaining and learning to control the life force energy (Qi) through ones own body will improve and help to heal most health related problems - naturally.
The Eight Treasures of Qigong Program incorporates a tranquil mind, soft breathing and slow, gentle movements. Simplicity, comfort and elegance combine with universal energy to return your life to its original pattern of harmony and balance on a continuous basis. Whether used for health maintenance or rehabilitation, this program can be done by anyone. This program is popular among doctors, nurses and bodywork therapists as well.
When: Saturday, April 28 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon
Where: Rollins Savanna in Grayslake, entrance at Washington Street and Atkinson Road

Concerned about the threat of invasive species to trees in your neighborhood?
Join us for the Arbor Day Celebration at Rollins Savanna Forest Preserve in Grayslake on Saturday, April 28, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Twenty assorted trees will be raffled off every hour. One free raffle ticket to win a tree will be distributed to each adult attending.
The trees are part of a USDA Forest Service grant, which also is providing about 2,000 trees to the Lake County Forest Preserves for planting throughout the preserves. Forestry staff will be available at the event to answer your questions about how to select trees most likely to thrive at your site.
Demonstrations and discussions on tree planting, care and site selection, and prevention and treatment of pests such as the emerald ash borer will be repeated throughout the event.
The $5 participation fee will be donated to local charities.
Reservations not necessary but appreciated.
