If you’re a Twitter fan, you might be interested to know that the social networking site made some algorithm changes to its Trends section that personalizes the list by state and regions of the world, as well as the people you follow. This brings you an even more personalized service from Twitter.

If you don’t know much about Trends, they are a list of popular topics and hashtags that appear on the left column of Twitter account pages, or they can be found in the Discover and Search features of many Twitter computer or mobile apps. Some Twitter users ignore Trends all together, while others help keep the Trends popular.

To locate Trends, log into your Twitter account and view them on the left side of the page. Click on “Change” to view and select other locations.

Trends vary , from typical news and celebrity stories, to #FemaleSexComplaints, If I Die Tomorrow, #50thnigsihate, and #schoolmemories, to the countless trending topics about Just Bieber.

With the new algorithm, trends will be listed by default based on your location and the people you follow. If the trends are not tailored to what you’re looking for, you can switch from your local list to worldwide, or one of 150 other locations, including 36 different countries.

Sometimes Trends are useful for when you’re looking for a topic to tweet about, or when want to get the latest highlights on breaking news and opinions. Though Twitter initiated the change in Trends algorithms starting today, it may take a few more days to see a significant difference in what’s showing on your page.
