Niki Terpstra was één van de drie Omega Pharma-Quick Step-renners die in de top tien eindigden. De Nederlander werd zesde, nadat hij onderweg heel wat werd had opgeknapt voor zijn kopman Tom Boonen. Dat was ook broodnodig verklaarde Terpstra, "want iedereen keek naar ons".

Niki Terpstra reed zowat de hele dag attent mee in de vuurlijn en stond zijn kopman met verve bij. "Ik voelde mij goed. Toen ik zag dat we in de laatste ronde nog met drie renners van de ploeg overbleven, wist ik dat dit onze dag zou worden", aldus de Nederlander. "Toen Tom Boonen mij voorbij reed bij de laatste beklimming van de Oude Kwaremont, wist ik zeker dat het goed zat".
