PUNTA GORDA, Fla. (AP)— Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Matt Bush is being held on more than $1 million bail on charges that he left the scene of an accident that seriously injured a motorcyclist.
Bush made his first court appearance Saturday. Charlotte County Circuit Court records show that Bush remained in custody on multiple DUI-related charges and counts of leaving the scene of an injury accident and driving with a suspended license.
The Florida Highway Patrol said Bush kept driving after hitting a motorcycle Thursday. The motorcyclist remains hospitalized.
Bush’s attorney, Russell Kirshy, said the baseball player would likely enter a rehab program once he gets released.
Kirshy said, “We hope and pray the victim is OK and we hope and pray we can get Matt back on track.”
Bush’s arraignment is set for May 21.

if he was black obama would have gotten him out last night.
he must be white, if not he would have been release by now and the charge drop
he may be kin to linsey lohan. but this is florida not calf.
Yeah, let's get him into rehab because he is the real victim here. Maybe even start a foundation in his name too. We can call it 'The Matt Bush Drunk Driving Hitting A Motorcyclist And Leave The Scene Foundation'. Proceeds will go to retarded pitchers that play in Tampa who love to drink and destroy people's lives.
Sad, this story is just a "flavor of the month" will it curb peoples actions to become more responsible, probaby not. The writer should have went into futher details. How this victim is now unexpectedly hspitalized, will Bush have to pay reinburstment for his bills, my guess is yes. But see how bad judgments and decision affect so many people. Will the victim have a job after he heals and is outta the hosp? Can he still do his job? Will his wife be force to work to help make ends meet? If they have Children, who will watch them if noone is there. COULD HAVE ALL BE AVOIDED IF YOU ARE RESPOSIBLE AND USE A DESIGNATED DRIVER. We are adults, we know when we go out if we are going to drink. do the right thing and keep one guy sober
hope they hang him! to many people do this they are such cowards
He is no better then anyone else!!!!
I hope the guy he hit sues his @#$% and takes him to the cleaners, it would serve him right. I don't want to hear any excuses about it being a "sickness" thats @#$%. It's a choice, he chooses to be a drunken @#$% and deserves all he has coming.
This guy just knows how to get in trouble..Stuff like this is probably why this guy never has had success thus far in his career. As a batter he flat out stunk, and looked somewhat promising as a pitcher but another setback haunts him still.
At least with his salary he could make bail. Sad but you know there are some kids who were looking up to him, He will enter rehab but what about the poor guy he hit?
The sad thing is even if he wasn't a pro athlete DUI laws are so lax you can get involuntary manslaughter after getting behind the wheel drunk and accidentally killing someone and be out of prison in a few years. Meanwhile, people are getting much longer sentences for selling pot, or cooking meth. All mind altering substances can cause severe damage when abused, alcohol is just condoned because it is so widely used and accepted in society.
dont care if he is a pro ball player he needs to stay in jail til his court date and trial and when founf guilty given at least 25 yrs in prison he is just a stupid @#$% person no excuses
He should buy a white Ford bronco..
Let prison BE his rehab. Not much booze in prisons.
He's going to go to jail eventually, hell go to rehab for now until his case is over.
How would this play out if h had been a "normal, everyday" person instead of some pseudo-celebrity??? they would have not even thought twice about locking them up for a long time. How about we treat them the same as the rest of the country. Lock him up and give him the treatment he seeks while he is doing his time.

As a Rays' fan, I want him released asap and never to have anything to do with the organization that I love ever again.
Where are all the protesters.
Another statistic, another tragedy, another rich man that will get away with a horrible accident by going to rehab. Lets do this Jail time FIRST then rehab
