@lechami49 DOMA is the Defense Of Marriage Act. A United States federal law (law that governs the whole country not just a State) that defines marriage as the legal union of one man and one woman. Section 3 of DOMA codifies the non-recognition of same-sex marriage for all federal purposes, including insurance benefits for government employees, Social Security survivors' benefits, and the filing of joint tax returns.

I completely agree with MillionMarch4Morals. DOMA is absolutely completely sickening. I know a few couples currently being torn apart and it is taking a HUGE toll on them emotionally. I guess it's true that there is no substitute for experience. One would have to suffer such a tragedy to understand how devastating and sickening this discrimination is.
