Kevin Nash Calls Out Ultimate Warrior: Who is the Better Wrestler?

As a wrestling fan for the last 20 years, it's hard to watch my old favorites destroy their careers by using the internet to pick fights with other wrestlers. But the war of words between elder statesmen of professional wrestling continues. This time it's between former World Heavyweight Champions Kevin Nash and the Ultimate Warrior. On Wednesday night, Nash used the social networking site Twitter to make his challenge. Nash wrote " Never realized I had a problem with Jim (Warrior). Seemed to get along fine in Scottsdale. Come on my clown, turn that frown upside down. A true warrior never turns down a challenge. Put up a 100K. I'll do the same. 3 rounds. mma rules. winner take all. I'm talking shoot, not sports entertainment. Jim Hellwig needs to put up or shut the (expletive) up. Day before Mania in Miami area. Warrior will have to pass all hiv and hep a b and c tests. I'll do the same. I'm tired of this guy talking (expletive) about the boys & me. When they stop it or you tap, i'll quit, or you can apologize like the (expletive) you are."

With the tweets just beginning to heat up, and the challenge likely to go unaccepted, I thought it would be fun to look at both wrestlers greatest moments in the wrestling industry and try to figure out who is the better wrestler.

Warrior Rules Wrestlemania

The defining moment for the Ultimate Warrior was at Wrestlemania 6. In front of over 60,000 screaming Canadians, Warrior pinned "Immortal" Hulk Hogan to become the new WWE Heavyweight Champion. The reign was short lived however, when Warrior lost the title less than one year later to Iraqi sympathizer Sgt. Slaughter.

Kevin Nash Rules MSG

Kevin Nash had an equally defining moment as character Diesel. He defeated Bob Backlund in 8 seconds at Madison Square Garden in 1994. It was the quickest WWE Heavyweight title match in wrestling history. Nash carried the belt three months longer than Warrior. His title reign lasted 1 week short of a year.

Warrior Dethrones a King

Not long after Warrior lost the championship, he went on to retire the legendary wrestler "Macho Man" Randy Savage . The match took place at Wrestlemania 7 and is regarded as Ultimate Warriors best match of all time. Months later, Warrior left the WWE under less than positive circumstances.

A New World Order

Along with good friend and partner Scott Hall, Kevin Nash helped World Championship Wrestling go from a fledgeling national promotion to the biggest company in the world. For a couple of years, because of Kevin Nash and the New World Order wrestling stable, WCW turned a profit and almost ran Vince McMahon out of business.

The Big Rematch

Unfortunately, one of the Ultimate Warriors last appearances in a wrestling ring was for WCW at a Halloween Havoc pay per view. At the event, he wrestled his old rival Hulk Hogan. The match was panned by every wrestling critic. The bout was a mess. To Warrior's credit, it wasn't just his fault. Hogan botched a fireball spot and burnt off his eyebrows. It was one of Warriors greatest moments for all the wrong reasons.

Diesel Returns

At the 2011 Royal Rumble, Kevin Nash returned to the WWE after several years. But it was the first time he returned under his alter-ego Diesel. The last time the Diesel character appeared in the WWE was in 1996, just before Nash went to WCW. When Diesel appeared before the live crowd, the audience went insane. It was one of the biggest ovations of the night, and proved that Nash still had some star power left.

It's unfortunate that these two men who, at one point in their careers were heroes to millions of fans, resort to this kind of bickering. It's like the movie Grumpy Old Men, but not funny. The back and forth challenge may get these two superstars a little headline news on a wrestling website, but long term, it just turns the fans off.
