Here is an interview with Asian male top model D.Bayartogtokh translated from the “Daily news” newspaper.
-First of all, congratulations to you on being awarded Asia’s top model. Please, introduce yourself to our readers.
-Thank you. I graduated from Mongen College in 2003. I then successfully graduated from MIU International Institute with a biotechnology major in 2007. Then I entered the fashion world after my graduation. I’m contracted with “Mongol model.” It has been five years since I first entered the fashion world. Models are divided into two categories; fashion and photo model. I work in both fields.
-Recently, you were awarded Asia’s top model. Tell us about the competition.
-In Mongolia, there are official modeling competitions; most of them are shows. “Goyol” festival holds one once a year, but they award the elder models who have been modeling for many years, not the newer and skilled ones. There are models from 20 countries registered to participate, but 18 of them took parts at the Asian Top Model competition which was held in Korea. It was such a big competition. The competition had two stages; precedential and themain part.Modeling teacher D.Bolormaa was included in the judge’s team from Mongolia. After the precedential selection, D.Bolormaa told me “Korea, Malaysia, Philippine and Chinese models are powerful. There will be six models selected at the main part. One of them is you, try your best.” So I was very inspired and watched other models walk through the screen. Honestly, my walk was better than theirs was. Their body build looks great. However, the main criteria were the technique and stage walk.
-How many participants competed from Mongolia? How did you receive the right to take part?
-There were seven models from Mongolia; two male and five female models. I received the right because I won the “Face of Mongolia” competition. The Mongolian Models Association in Korea and The BBQ Company host the competition. There are many model agencies established in Mongolia, but the models rarely take parts at international competitions. I think maybe they are satisfied with their career in here. Teacher D.Bolormaa was the first winner of the competition from Mongolia in 1997. I was the first male top model since then. Model Kh.Oyungerel was awarded Asian queen. Generally, Mongolian models are successfully participating at competitions.
-What are the differences between Mongolian and foreign models?
-Japan, Korean and other international models are well built physically. They are attractive, but their stage techniques are not good. Mongolian models equally develop their bodies and ability. In addition, foreign models look good in photos, but in reality they are not very good looking. They build their appearance with cosmetic surgery. Mongolians are naturals.
-How did you choose to be a model?
-I watched the Korean serial “Fashion world” in 2002. Then I totally decided to become a model. In 2007 I met with the teacher D.Bolormaa on an event and her manager said “Are you interested in becoming a model? I’m inviting you to work at our agency.” So I told him I would like to become a model. When I first walked on the stage I had no experience. Now I am 27 years old. I belong to the elders group. I have reached success.
-Do you ever diet?
-Not at all. I go to the gym all the time. People should eat more when they are going on fitness regimes. I regularly eat four or five times a day in small portions. I don’t eat much fat or salt.
-What are the criteria for male models?
-Generally, the height is given and it depends on the model’s body figure and bone. Muscles have certain appeal. Also he must have the right face and clean skin.
-Do you have salon services?
-Not often. In the night, I use deep cleanser and apply night cream.
-Is fighting banned for male models?
-The Mongol Model Agency seriously takes care of their models’ behaviors. My teacher used to tell if something wrong happens, you should talk about it or run away - appearance is the most important part.
-Do you often travel abroad for work?
-I went to the Mongolian culture days held in the USA and took part at the expo in Shanghai. Recently, I just recently returned from Korea.
-Do Mongolian models participate at other competitions?
-Mongolians mostly participate at Miss Competitions. Now we should be well-trained and take part at “World miss” and “World mister.” The model Galbadrakh, who belongs to our agency successfully participated at the “World mister” competition. We need more practice.
-What is your major?

Your current web browser must be updated to version 7 of Internet Explorer (IE7) to take advantage of all of template's capabilities.
Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
